Ira - in response to your question<< Why is the Clik! technology so compelling to some.>> To me, very simple; While not a very good photographer, I enjoy taking pictures. My old Minolta disappeared and I need to buy a new camera. I like the idea of digital photography and the possibility of editing photos and printing only those I like. It is my assumption that an affordable digital camera capable of taking 35mm quality photos can only store about 4 images before being rendered useless until downloading, which means hooking it up to a computer. Doesn't sound like something I want on my next vacation.
However, (if my understanding is correct), with a Clik! drive, I can download those 4 shots to a Clik! disk 10 times and then replace the disk. Now I'm willing to spend $1000 on a digital camera.
And I'm a reluctant, heel-dragging adapter to new technology; I am willing to bet that this could be one of the biggest technology advances to come to photography since the point-and-shoot 35mm cameras. If IOM can bring it to market - especially with solid patents - their upside potential very impressive.
