I completely agree. The earth is a self-correcting biosphere. Having read about the Carboniferous era, it proves that what you are saying is true. These are long lived, geological cycles. I believe it is entirely possible that humans might be contributing to the speed of warming, but I also believe the earth will absorb these changes with no problem over a long period of time. The challenge will be if the change happens too fast for humans to adapt. But the question still remains whether the earth is really actually warming appreciably or not? I'm not sure. However, there has been an uptick in very expensive insurance claims from very large natural disasters. If I was an actuary, I would work on becoming an expert in these trends to make sure my insurance company could survive.
