But the "Baltic Dry Index" is no longer that relevant. Virtually all trade goods today move on container ships which are not included in the "Baltic Dry Index".

The "Baltic Dry Index" is the rental rate for ships which transport bulk goods like iron ore, coal and feed corn or soybeans. Food goods for humans are shipped on container ships.
