Off topic Yes, at the very least I should have drastically qualified my comment. I also bought a UMAX (600x1200) and the #^&%# piece of &^% was horrible in too many ways to relate. I returned it and was amused to observe three other UMAX scanner boxes in the same return line. I'm glad you have had success with your parallel scanner. For my part I just plugged my HP-5p into an existing SCSI card and was up instantly. Clearly it depends more on the scanner and less on the interface. My comment should have been "always get a good quality scanner." Not too deep an insight, huh?
