I have taken that often published dividend yield on the S&P 500 of 1.4% as a fact. Is it not true? How do you come up with a dividend yield of 4-5%? Are you saying that those stock buybacks are actually a hidden dividend which simply doesn't go directly to the holders of the stock?

I'm willing to be enlightened. Thanks.
