In the first two weeks of 1998, we have had a viotale two weeks of trading in the
oils. I thought it may be interesting to list the activity over that period.

Note, Monday 1/12/98 was the turning point for the freefalling oils. Focusing on
the oil and gas producers, the group was down 167.47 points on top of the 909.16
points lost the previous week. At that point, the group had lost a total of
1076.63 points, or 18.4% since we began trading in 1998. However, by the end of
the day, the group had recovered to post a gain of 60.08 points. Monday's swing
amounted to 227.55 points.

Also worth noting is weekly volume from week to week. The TSE 300 was about the same
as in the previous week. However, the volume in the oils was sbustantially
higher.
