| | | Great post. Unfortunately, I believe AOC is far more dangerous than people give her credit for. Remember that Hitler was a sub-human, scoundrel, and yet, whole swaths of people fell for his brand of bullshit. The budding tyrants don't have to be smart. They just have to have broad appeal. AOC has that. Here's another thing to be afraid of. Generation X is too small to make a difference. We've gone straight from the Baby Boomers, who were the most irresponsible generation ever, to the Millenials who have every right to feel like the most screwed generation ever. And on top of that, the Millenials have been force fed Socialism in High School and College, where the liberals have made their viper nests. So they think Socialism is the answer. Our government power structures are going straight from Baby Boomers to Millenials with almost zero contribution from Generation X.
Here's why I think that matters. The energy of Youth almost always demands revolution. The wisdom of age is usually there to temper Youth, and thus, helps to avoid catastrophe. In the case of the US, the Baby Boomers never really had much wisdom. They were revolutionaries in their day with their Woodstock and drugs. They never really graduated to responsibility. So you have one irresponsible generation passing the baton to their kids. The responsible generation, the Gen Xers who are the kids of the Silent Generation, are too small and too focused on earning money and living the American Dream. Their Wisdom will not be in the halls of power to temper the revolution the Millennials want to bring the US.
So Socialism and then Totalitarianism with all the Technology that comes with the Millennials is in our immediate future. You know how long it took for Venezuela to go from the richest to the poorest country in Latin America? 20 years. How long can it take the US, which already has $21 trillion in debt? 20 years? 10 years? Be prepared. When they come for your retirement money that we all spent 30-40 years building, there won't be any way for you to save it. In Venezuela, a lifetime's retirement savings became worthless when hyperinflation hit. When the US falls for this shit, where can we run? There isn't any place safer than the US. So if the US becomes Socialist/Totalitarian, where on earth will we go to find freedom again?
Shit. My father fled a Socialist/Communist country to the US to find freedom again. He is still alive and is raging that his son has to start thinking this way, when he thought he'd set up his future generations for peace and freedom. What a disaster all of this is becoming. I hope Trump can find enough true Americans to vote for him again in 2020 so that his dream of "the US will never be a Socialist country" can remain alive. |
