You are right. If you do an internet search on "Border Collie horror stories" you will find countless examples of the dogs dismantling, houses, furniture, cars etc. They are escape artists as well. Working dogs need a job. The other aspect about Border Collies is that their herding instinct derives from a predatory instinct. They often don't do well with small children - running triggers their herding instinct. also not a dog for apartment dwellers and city living, they need to run.
