I squarely put the blame on irresponsible dog breeders. They don’t nearly do enough to vet potential buyers.

It’s often easier to buy a $2,000 or whatever dog from a breeder than to qualify for adoption of a shelter animal.

Case and point ... My last German Sheppard which I adopted from a shelter. Amongst many other objections as in this dog is not adoptable ... “Your 5 ft. Fence is too low”. My response ... Who needs a farking fence? 5 ft or 8 ft? Neither is a problem for this dog. If she wants to escape, she will and I am the one to blame.

She never tried to escape the backyard but she sure took some “liberties” in the woods in the early days. Trick is ... If your dogs runs off, stay put. Don’t look for him/her. (99% of the time they retrace their steps and end up right next to you.
