| | | Mindmeld, here's my view on Trump's North Korean summit.
I honestly don't expect any concrete agreements to come out of it. It's mostly for show. Neither Kim Jong-Un nor Donald Trump could ever be taken at their word, because they both love to say things that they'll quickly walk back or ignore in the future.
However, what Trump successfully accomplished is this: He completely flipped the media narrative on North Korea. In January 2018, CNN (the most trusted leader in fake news) was declaring that Korea was closer to nuclear war than ever. Just a few months later, Trump is being mentioned as a possible candidate for Nobel Peace Prize, and Chuck Schumer is looking like a neocon.
The real fear here is that Trump is being played by North Korea. But there was no proof that North Korea ever feared Trump's predecessors. They certainly didn't fear Obama nor Bush, nor did they fear John F'n Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Condi Rice, or Colin Powell. They always acted as they pleased, and they were never reluctant to resort to brinkmanship to achieve their goals, either short-term or long-term.
If there is anyone who North Korea played for a fool, it was Jimmy Carter back in 1994. Even the Clinton administration at the time was upset at what Carter did, but they had no choice but to honor what he agreed to. And even then, the Clinton administration dragged their feet on their end of the agreement, which is why North Korea started breaking it prior to Bush.
But you'll NEVER see the mainstream media report this, because more than ever, they are vested in the left-wing narrative that repeats the worst mistakes of the 20th century. And that's a shame, because the know-it-all millennials will grow up believing a complete lie, and they'll force everyone else to go along no matter how harmful it will be.
