I spent my early tween years in Washington state. I loved that it was rustic close to where I grew up - now it is all sprawl. The spread of strip malls and tilt-up concrete tech centers over creek runs I used to fish and second growth woods I used to hike in cut down for the Microsoft suburbanites kind of broke my heart. I don't go there anymore though I'd consider a place where that level of sprawl hasn't penetrated or at least for which I didn't have such distinct memories.
