Aww-Christine, you know me well enough to know that I never take absolute stands on anything publicly. I have always been personally opposed to abortion, but will not presume to know what's best for anyone else. When I turned 40 and Dan and I were trying for a third, my doctor advised us to think through the issue of amnio and abortion very carefully pre facto. I said, with great self-confidence, "Oh, I would never abort." and went home and started thinking about it and realized that not only was I not nearly as sure as I had always believed, but I most certainly do not want anyone else making that decision for me and my body and my life. I find it infuriating that other people believe they are more capable, more moral, more intelligent, more qualified than my husband and I, or anyone else, to make this decision.
So I guess my answer is that I don't have one I'm willing to foist upon other people as the ultimate truth for anyone besides myself and that the truth even for myself can change under different circumstances. But I want to make my own decisions about these issues-I don't want you or Holly or some pro-lifer making them for me. Life in general is so complex that simple declarations about what is or what should or should not be usually only end up polarizing and angering.
Did I manage to answer anything?
