Does anyone know of a readable translation of the Quran? I've tried several times to read it, but never manage to pull through. I understand the meaning of the words, but the text is just too chaotic for me to follow. I think this is because various verses came in response to different situations and the book is presented in the chronological order.

I am not after "truest translation" or even one that follows the text closely. What I am after is a good "interpretation" that has gone through editorial review and made into a coherent sequence. It should ideally provide some context around the verses, but I'd settle for anything that is as readable as a modern Bible translation.

Another way of saying this is that I want stories and concepts in such a way that is as close to the text as possible, without all the digressions and parentheses that are in the actual text.

TIA
