I know someone that went to London from Canada to have both knees replaced, I don’t know what it cost but money was no object. He researched it thoroughly and picked the best surgeon on the planet. The Brits no matter what they say publicly are elitists and would not cater to Joe Schmo. There is no doubt if you want to completely screw anything up get a committee of bureaucrats to work on it. The pain and suffering and expense they will leave in their wake would make Caligula blush. You can get lucky in Canada, diagnosis is the key to many things and diagnostics are expensive. You need a doctor that is not shy of sending you for lots of tests. Good luck suing a Canadian doctor... So when negligence does happen, it's rare but it could cost you your life. Doctors are protected under the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA), which fights diligently to protect the reputation of Canadian medical professionals. They are tough to go up against. Suing a doctor for malpractice is very hard. You’re 100% right, the only solution is deregulation and let the free market figure it out.
