Walker River Resources (WRR-V) has received assays of up to 10.23 grams of gold per tonne over 19.9 metres from one of two holes drilled in the Lapon Rose zone at its Lapon Canyon gold project in southwestern Nevada. The high-grade hit was aided by a 1.5-metre interval that averaged 78.1 grams per tonne. That hole also yielded a second, slightly deeper interval that averaged 111.27 grams per tonne over three metres. The second hole produced just 1.02 grams of gold per tonne over 15.2 metres, but a second, slightly deeper interval yielded 93.5 grams per tonne over 1.5 metres.

Mr. David, president and chief executive officer, says that he and his crew are "very excited and encouraged" by the continuation of the results from the project, with most of the holes testing Lapon Rose so far having produced significant grades and widths. While investors reacted with enthusiasm to the high-grade gold, Mr. David said that he was very encouraged, but apparently not as excited, by the presence of lower-grade mineralization and anomalous -- a geological euphemism for "really low grade" -- gold present pervasively throughout the alteration fault zone and enveloping the higher-grade material. More assays are pending, he says, after which Walker River will presumably lay out a 2019 exploration plan.

Mr. David, a Val d'Or resident, is not getting rich as president and CEO of Walker River, as the company paid less than $50,000 in management fees through the first nine months of 2018. Happily, his 5.4 million shares have appreciated in value since the Lapon Canyon assays began arriving late last year: The stock had been clinging tenaciously to the five-cent mark through most of 2018.
