>>Ramsey's Silicon Studio is another abortion from that era that did lots of damage as it fouled developer relations and spooked customers.<<

Another "high five" Vincent. Knew an SGI reseller or two back when Silicon Studio was launched. They were "out-of-their-heads" angry and felt very betrayed w/SGI. As you might know, training revenues are a vital part of any VAR's -value add- AND bottom-line. OK, now you're an SGI VAR. So, how do you compete with your very own SGI mothership, when she gets in the business of training your customers? Does it effect your customer's image of the value your VAR outfit brings to the table, when they can get training (complete with bottomless cappuccinos & biscottis) at a posh Silicon Studio suite instead of your boring hole-in-the-wall?

You bet it does Vincent. And we're not just talking about IRIX 101 and maybe some A/W basics. SGI rolled-out courses on a wide range of 3rd party application packages and flew-in independent contractors to lead instruction. Now that's what I call building a channel! Did they even think about taking their cash to co-sponsor VAR training sites to better serve their growing user base and build stronger SGI VARs world wide??? <IMHO> I doubt it.

Pardon my ignorance Vincent. Is Silicon Studio still running?

Mathon

p.s. <imho> You need to compete with those big production houses with their 24 hour kitchens and their sexy PA's. No??? Well, at least hire a sexy PA!
