I emailed PGSoft asking them what benefits Gimme Space provided that BigDisk did not. Here is their response.
Gimme Space provides you with the following features that BigDisk does not have:
* Support for Removable Drives (i.e. Zip, Jaz, LS-120)* * Support for Network Servers * Support for Multiple Source Drives (C:, D:, etc.) * Orphan File Prevention When Uninstalling * Ability to Change Source or Target Drive Anytime
*BigDisk purports to support removable drives and while you can move files to a removable drive, once you do that, you can never remove the media from the removable drive! This effectively turns the removable drive into a fixed drive since you can never remove the media.
Gimme Space gives you automatic built in safety features, and BigDisk only provides limited safety. Certain files should never be moved (Windows directory files, Autoexec.bat, Config.sys, etc.). Gimme Space automatically detects, upon boot-up, those classes of files that should never be moved.
