I think diversified energy sources are great for competition and a free market. I'd like to see all subsidies removed from all energy sources, including the subsidies for ethanol and for oil and gas, which also include a huge military subsidy to protect our oil supplies overseas. I'd also make nuclear power plants easier to obtain licensing, and open up key federal lands to prospecting. That would be the very best way to allow the green energies to flourish. Many green energies are already cost competitive with oil and coal. Solar and wind prices have come way down, for example.

So I suspect you and I would agree on much of the above. The problem is not with green energy. The problem is with AOC's Green New Deal. The green part of it is simply a mask for all the massive government takeovers of our economy that she wants to implement. The Green New Deal is really a wholesale Socialism Platform. The "Green" in it is just a misdirection to distract us from the implementation of Socialism. It's like when the first Bush and then Obama signed those putrid Patriot Acts, that created the surveillance state and destroyed Habeus Corpus and our Bill of Rights. They named it "Patriot" so we'd all get behind it, because they wanted to distract us from the fact that they were shredding the Constitution and the protections we were afforded under it. Now, we don't have any of those protections left. It's just a facade of freedom.

Don't be fooled. You and I likely agree on the need to protect the only planet we humans can currently live on. We both agree on the desirability of green energy and investments in those. But can we please separate that and focus on that, instead of muddying the waters by implementing Socialism, while pretending we're doing something good for our planet?
