Door etiquette is always difficult. Going into a store and there is someone coming in behind you (man or woman) if they are close it would be rude to let the door shut in their face, but if they are too far away it's silly to stand and hold the door for them. So it is a judgement call. Maybe only Midwesterners worry about stuff like that.
