That statement is borderline; a coup attempt would be the extreme of what might have happened among these government employees. We will never know the truth.

Now, that is absolutely false. Some of the discussions, e.g., wearing a wire to speak to the president for the purpose of a coup d'etat are consistent with an illegal and unconstitutional coup attempt. The mere discussion of pulling together people to overthrow a duly elected sitting president is the same.

I think you don't understand what a coup attempt looks like; we, after all, haven't seen one here.
