Brendan

I just returned from purchasing a hand held GPS receiver (Magellan 3000XL). It cost $129, marked down from $249. The unit that I would have preferred, Garmin, cost around $500. It had the added feature of being able to insert data cartridges of coastal maps. The high cost of each cartridge, $200, kept me away from it.
If a Clik! enabled unit were available, with a $10, 40 mb disc, I would be one of the first in line to purchase it. If I could download a map or purchase one for a lot less than the $200 cartridge, it would seem to be a great bargain. I think that a lot of other boaters would find this exciting also.
Yes, someone will say good luck downloading 10 mbs off of the net, but the downloading I was talking about would take place at your local marina.
Just think, $10-$15, for a map that presently costs about $200.

How about it Magellan and Garmin, are you reading this? Better give IOM a call and have your products Clik! enabled. Better you than your competitors.
