Mindmeld, this is the dumbest idea I have ever seen, and I've seen a lot. Essentially Colorado (along with other states considering this) will tell candidates not to come to their state because their votes will not matter all that much. With a population of 5.6M, Colorado only represents like 1.8% of the popular vote. Even then, their votes will be divided between the two candidates, which further dilutes their importance in national elections. Finally, it's really bad optics if the guy you really hate wins the popular vote. Imagine in 2020, if Trump wins the popular vote this time. (It could happen, especially with the Democrats embracing socialism like never before.) Then imagine the majority of Colorado voters voting for the Democrat. Imagine how it would look when the Electoral convention rolls around. "We, the great state of Colorado, will give all of our electoral votes to Donald Trump, even though most of our citizens voted for the other candidate!" Tenchusatsu
