If the US was not directly south of Canada it is likely Canada would not last more than a few months as a sovereign nation.

Once upon a time we built the best jet fighter on earth, now we buy leaky diesel subs from the Brits and outdated jet fighters from the Australia, and we only do that to keep up our NATO commitments.
