Libya may have the worst consequences for Europe, but Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq were not very smart either.
Vietnam was a different era... rightly or wrongly, a "domino theory" thing. Afghanistan made the most sense - the US could not allow an organization that conducted a major bombing of a great American city to remain in total control of a large country. Iraq could be argued either way, but in both Iraq and Afghanistan the consequent strategies and "mission drift" were very big mistakes.

Libya has a special place.... Europeans are so far quiet about it, probably because they were stupid enough to participate. But give them time, and they'll come around and blame American bullying for dragging them in and causing all the trouble. Obama and HRC jumped into a revolution which was nothing but trouble from the beginning - while the Congress did nothing.
