| | | That, my friend, is the state of Democracy and Free Speech in our country and on these digital platforms. It's become nothing more than a nice facade or myth we pretend exists. These threads are a microcosm that illustrate very nicely the macrocosm we live in.
I do wonder had I been a vocal liberal and still won the vote on that thread, if he would have let me moderate it. I guess we won't know until a liberal tries to do what I tried to do. Then we'll know where the admins on SI stand. I worked in the tech world for decades and long enough to watch Silicon Valley go from hard working, conservative, capitalists to hard working, privileged, Socialists. It's been amazing to watch the transformation and I'm not quite sure how it is possible for the beating heart of capitalism to have such ignorance among it's most successful people. But that is the irony. The Socialists use the tools that Capitalism built to get their message out, not realizing that those tools would not be possible without Capitalism. I imagine that all things move in cycles and nothing lasts forever. Rich people forget what got them there and poor people engage in victim mentality, instead of girding themselves and pulling themselves up by the bootstraps like many of us have done in my lifetime. Especially our kids, who never have really experienced the privations of the past. So do gooders become guilt ridden Socialists and the cookie crumbles.
I never thought I'd see it, but I believe we're watching the first signs of the disintegration of Western civilization. It can happen slow or fast, I don't know, but I don't see how this gets turned around. The next couple of generations are nihilists. So I feel like Trump really is the last gasp of the old ways. So let's enjoy it while it lasts and don't be afraid to MAGA! We might also want to try to MABA (Make AOC a Bartender Again), while we're at it. |
