Hello Reginald,

I work day in and day out with a wide range of customers ... from Fortune 100 to small business. When you ask:

How can you say there is no real alternative? What about ALL of the other OSs, and ALL of the other office suites?

Could you please explain to me what "other OSs" there are? Be real ... are you saying that a corporation (or small business) can afford to invest in ....? What?

Linux? Yeah ... great corporate support channel. And all the applications and legacy data support ...

Mac? I'd say that Apple needs to do more proving for me to buy that story.

Sun? Well, I guess that if I have a huge bank account, I could buy lots of Sun hardware and software ...

The only cost effective platform today is the Intel platform. The only cost effective, supportable OS platform on Intel, with the widest range of applications and capability, is Microsoft.

I'm not arguing that they have done an incredible job ...

As for Office Suites, you are seeing my exact point. Yes, today you can pick another office suite. But with the manuever that Microsoft did to Novell last week, they might at any point decide that a competing office suite, if installed, voids the warranty on Windows.

Now what do you choose?
