As I explain here, democratic socialism is a political tradition aiming broadly at democratic control of the economy, achieved through electoral processes. In concrete terms, that generally means a completed cradle-to-grave welfare state plus democratic ownership of big swathes of the economy through mechanisms like a social wealth fund or state-owned enterprises. Importantly, this definition rules out authoritarian systems like the state socialism seen in the Soviet Union. Democracy means at a minimum regular, free, and fair elections, where a conservative party has a real chance of victory. So to summarize, Socialism means that social wealth fund or state-owned enterprises pretty much own and rule the whole economy, but somehow that is NOT state socialism, just because you voted for it? Are you lefties really so idiotic? When you vote for your own slavery, you become a slave! You have just confirmed for me that your IQ is lower than my shoe size.
Oh and btw, Venezuela was Democratic, until they voted for Socialism under Chavez. Then they found out what all historically well read people know already, which is that Socialism is a stepping stone to Totalitarianism and that step is a small one. You have never lived in a Socialist state, so you don't know what you are talking about. You will ruin this country, which is a haven for all those who have fled Socialism, just because you are a sniveling, entitled, lazy person who wants to play with fire.
Our citizens need to pull out all the stops, including active resistance to ensure that you Totalitarian Socialists get nowhere near the levers of power in this country. Already, you have elected two Muslims who so clearly hate this country, they are already defecating on our hallowed traditions and spewing anti-semitism and engaging in victim mentality.
