re: DELL split

For those of us who have followed DELL for a couple of years (last 3 splits), it appears to be DELL's policy to split when the stock gets to the $80-100 range. Since it has been there since last August, we were actually expecting a split last quarter. Someone on the thread, (I believe it was Jim Kelley or Patrick) called investor relations in November I think, and got the following answer: (Gisted) DELL was considering another split. However, after discussing it with their analysts, who felt that it would be too 'gimmicky' in light of the Asian situation, decided to postpone any such action. If you check the thread posts between mid-October and end of November, you can find it. Or Kemble may have the post in one of his notebooks.

Bottom line: in the middle of last quarter, DELL felt it was doing well enough to discuss split with its analysts.

Regards, 3.
