>> you don't need to be concerned over Clik! reliability. The specs for it's ruggedness are more than adequate. <<

I never see the spec myself but I assumed it will be similar to Zip. Anyway the problem is not the media but the drive. Although I have speak out my concern, I still believe the design is feasible overall.

>> I find the phrasing curiously bearish. On one hand, this product is still being developed. Any product in development is, by definition, having "implementation problems" in that it is not yet implemented into production.<<

This is not really true (although I am not a ee but I believe they have similar terminology as cs when speaking of development cycle), a good design should address most of the forseeable problems in the implementation phrase. If implementation phrase has fundamental problem, the "design" must be redesigned. Implementation phrase means perform the actual production according to the detail design. Before the Design phrase there is feasibility study and specification documentation. After the implementation phrase, there are testing & validation phrase.

I am not saying there should be problem-free during implementation but if Clik is really in implementation phrase (I suspect it is still in design phrase with a copule semi-working prototype, correct me if I am wrong), it should have address all the problems which may encounter with the minature drive.

The same also apply to HiFD and I like both HiFD and Clik. Even in the future Clik prove not to be a good digital camera storage. It is still a good idea, however it is sad that not not all "good idea" can evolve to a "market success".

BTW: Anyone know the DTR and the rpm of a Clik drive?
