Liz, Thanks for your sobering comments. This page has been an IDTI pep rally. Did you see how many postings have been racked up in the last couple weeks. There are definitely some die hard supporters here.
I own about 500 shares purchased at an average price of around $11.75. Tomorrow I will probably get hit hard and it may drop, worst case,to the $9.00 range. IDTI seems like a solid company and even though the earnings dropped I think in the next two years it will definitely bounce back. As far as a Chapter 11, if it only sold SRAM I would be concerned. But since it sells many other types of semiconductors I believe its long term prospects look good. In this industry rapid change is always occurring and the companies best able to change quickly are the smaller companies. So even though the big companies you mentioned have impressive production facilities I feel a small well run company like IDTI will always find a niche, and when the market does grow, the small company does not need to get much of it to increase its revenue rapidly.
One other plus for IDTI, is it is based in Silicon Valley. The Asian companies may be great at cranking out product, but the place to be, to stay abreast of the latest in evolving technology, is the Silicon Valley.
Any additional feedback you may have, is welcome. I like to hear as many opinions as possible and it sounds like you have some good first hand information about what is currently going on in the marketplace. Have you read my posting on Whittington? Do you feel the supply line for semiconductors will be overloaded for quite some time, or do you think demand will soon meet or exceed supply? What time frame do you see on this?
