Hi Sector and the thread:

Two tax-related comments:

1. For funds, the tax-sell waiting period is 61 days. Any mutual funds exited ASND before November 15, 97 and took a tax loss may be ready for re-entry. ( For individul the requirement is 30 days. )

2. Any one who "shorted against the box" in 1997 will have to cover the short BEFORE 1/31/98 in order to receive the capital-gain treatment for their original shares. --- Example: If I shorted 100 shares of Intel (against my long shares) in 1997, I need to cover the 100 shares before the end of this month to qualify my long shares for the future capitial-gain tax treatment.

The above may COMMAND more shorts to cover and funds to re-enter after a sound earning reports on Tuesday.

Regards, Jan
