Get out in front? They were dragged kicking and screaming into grounding them. This is in my area of expertise and I believe the 737 Max has a design flaw that wasn't noted until long after they were well into production. Usually the center of gravity (CG) is near the main landing gear but if you look at the plane most of the weight especially those heavy engines is well forward of the landing gear. I believe Boeing after finding the error simply designed software for the onboard computer to compensate for the nose heavy condition. These crashes are happening on takeoff which just happens to be when the wings have the most fuel in them making them even more nose heavy. I believe on takeoff the forward weight is causing a nose down condition and when the flight computer tries to compensate bringing the nose up the computer goes to far and the engines stall which is why the plane was seen smoking when it was falling down. The problem is that if I'm right Boeing can never admit it because the liability and the cost of buying all of the defective planes back would bankrupt them which is why we didn't want to ground them.
