I supported the Progressives on two major counts: single payer universal healthcare or Medicare for all and free public state tuition for students whose families earn under 125K ( the NYS bill).
Now I support these two things because the average family cannot afford the cost of healthcare and college. Wages have not risen fast enough to compensate.
However, if the Dem platform supports a .1% tax on all trades on Wall Street, I will NOT vote for the Dem running for President. I am not going to pay over 5 figures a year to support their environmental plan. Plus, many of the Dems don't realize that the Market is the economy or foundation of Main Street. I may even vote for Trump, who I despise, just to show my displeasure with the .1% tax if it is in the platform.
Trump will win by the biggest landslide in history if that .1% tax becomes part of the Dem agenda. The progressives are underestimating the backlash they will receive if that tax is part of their platform.
Joe 6 pack will not like that tax in principle either.
Not a fan of Ocasio-Cortes.
I wonder where Tulsi Gabbard stands on that tax. I am a progressive who is pro business. Some will say that's a contradiction, but I think not.
A nice tax cut for the working class and lower middle income would be better for the economy anyway since Joe 6 Pack would spend all his money received from the tax cut whereas the super rich hoard most of their money received from the tax cut, if not all.
