can and will be hijacked, but to begin with socialism is far better than
capitalism as socialism is for the greater good while capitalism is for the
individual.

That is true. Corruption happens everywhere, but corruption happens by design under Socialist systems. Quite literally, you have to force some people to do things they don't want to do in a Socialist system, whereas, in Capitalist systems, people engage because they are free to do so
