1/ So Donald Trump is threatening to unleash state violence (cops, military) and extrajudicial violence (bikers) against his political opponents.
Cool Republic we had. Shame about the new ownership.
2/ Jefferson seems apropos:
"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny."
3/ Jefferson, again:
"When once a Republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil."
4/ This is such a window into the shallow, vengeful, grotesque mind of Trump. His ball-washing of almost every thug and authoritarian out there is perfectly explicable.
He sees them as role models, not as enemies of the values American can and should represent in the world.
5/ This wasn't some figure of speech, or some verbal tic. This is a man who edges closer by every standard of the Founders to the definition of "tyrant." I wish I was exaggerating.
6/ Madison was too optimistic in Federalist 46, 51.
7/ "I can tell you I have the support of the police, the support of the military, the support of the Bikers for Trump – I have the tough people, but they don’t play it tough — until they go to a certain point, and then it would be very bad, very bad" is going down in history.
Most of his Trumpers are pussies like he is. The few that aren't are stupid enough to get caught by the FBI.
