Do you completely deny the heritable component of IQ? James Flynn says that there is now a bias away from discussion of that because of the slippery slope into racism. He admits that is a problem. And if you look at more than the 13 (actually 18) minute video (a very inefficient way to get facts) and look more broadly at the Wikipedia entry - you will see that the "Flynn Effect" is leveling out in First World countries. This impugns the IQ test basis more than making the case for us getting smarter. We are rapidly losing skills of general reading and writing because of the focus on smaller packets of data. I have people that are technical but seem functionally disabled when it comes to reading or writing. These are VP level people.

Are there non-genetic reasons for athleticism? Intellect? Sharpshooting? Juggling? Tightrope walking? Diabetes? Cancer? Heart disease? Sure but that doesn't obviate the likelihood that there are simultaneously and PROVABLE genetics for these as well.

People gravitate towards things they

a) get the opportunity to try,

b) that they are successful at.
