Sure - it was hard for people in America to see the need to go to war. Racism would have gotten worse because comparative standards worldwide would have dropped. After all - compared to many parts of the world - we were not the worst. Why would the average, white-ish American care?

Protecting the boarders would have been job one in the white majority's mind. Something like the Monroe Doctrine Part II would have been an element in a treaty with Germany. Holding England and the rest of Europe would be hard at a village to village scale. In the US, internment and executions would have increased for those considered a risk - foreigners and former slaves that didn't accept their situation. KKK sentiments were very broadly held in the 1920's and 30's - progressives and conservatives shared a distaste for "foreign entanglements" if not the specific issue of race. Priorities would have had to have been set - and I doubt racial equality would have been a factor, nor sufferance of Jews or others. Progressives would have had to compromise on the treatment of deserving whites and those deemed not so deserving in the frame of Nazi propagation and control over large parts of Europe. Nazis wouldn't have been welcome everywhere if they pushed their hand too hard. Perhaps it would have been the Pax Nazimo.

I don't see America as a necessary leader of civil rights. The evidence is for the opposite actually. We seem fine with locking up and killing minorities - just not at the level of the Nazis. Does that make us better? Maybe not. But it wouldn't have made us Nazis.
