I found that article both disturbing and enlightening. I have read the same kind of treatise written in the Antebellum. I wasn't aware that people were still writing that crap in the teens and 20s. I should have realized that it was so, I just never really thought about it, even though I knew about the immigration laws. I just thought it is was garden variety antisemitism and prejudice against newcomers who could speak English without an accent and often weren't very well educated and even if they were educated, they often couldn't show it due to their poor English. No wonder Trump singled out Norway (as though Norweigans would want to live in the US, lol; maybe a dozen or two, no more). And it gives that old ad campaign a different kind of significance: Blonds have more fun!.
