I think you need to read that article fully. In all metrics, except one, America was ahead of the Germany in racism and Nazi scholars were studying American methods to figure out how to adapt them to Germany. Many prominent Americans got accolades and honors from Nazi Germany.

The only exception was the American belief in democracy, but that was meant to be only for the "white" Americans. And even the whites were categorized and weren't all equal.

All 3 branches of the government, from the Supreme Court to both parties in the Congress to the executive branch and the presidents were all in favor of racial purity and enshrininig into law and official policies.

So it is no stretch at all to extrapolate from that and see a very different America today, had the US not been tricked by the British to fight Germany.
