Being Nazi-like means what? Repressive? We and the British had that. Ask Blacks here and Irish in the UK. What point are you trying make then - we'd become like Teutonic Nazis or the Man in the High Castle (overrun with Nazis) without Hitler.

Neither of those was likely IMO.

Hitler was the end of a long pipeline of factors that drew Germans together into a nationalistic frenzy.

Would the election of Richard Nixon put us on the moon sooner or later? Probably later - maybe not at all. This kind of single factor speculation is practically worthless but there are people that galvanize efforts. Grown up Hitler is one - but baby Hitler was not.
