Being Nazi-like means believing in racial purity and basing public policy on race as a predominant factor. The US was already considering a distinction between a "Citizen" with full voting rights and a "National" without one based on race. Eugenics were a respected force at all layers. Without fighting Germany to put a halt to those trends, there is no reason to believe they would not have continued and evolved the US into a multi-tiered system where social rights were based on how fair your skin is and where your ancestry comes from. That is what being Nazi-like means.
