I have not seen postings regarding RSE negotiating to acquire CPI. Being new to REITS I was wondering if this is not a newsworthy event

If a paired status is desirable and there are only a few of them, it would seem they would often be targeted for takeovers. The RSE/CPI coupling being an example.
HOT, MT, PAH and CPI are the only pairs I know of and all seem to be popular.
Bruce on the PAH thread gave an easy to understand explanation of "Paired" (PAH Post 16 FYI, anyone who does not know about them).

Richard, I must take this opportunity to tell you that you have been the single cause of my new found interest in REITS. Last week, looking for info on DSWLF, I came across a post of yours which eventually led me to the others on REITS. Instantly I became a captivated student.

Also, seeing you mention MT (on the PAH thread, as well) gives me some assurance. D date Jan 30 on record, I believe.

many thanks -Bell
