Randy, This issue isn't going to disappear. Unlike LGE and LG Semicon, the rest of the Korean choebel believe they can finesse their way through the current crises on their own without the benefit of foreign equity or technology-rich (Zenith), international partners.

The choebel have borrowed to the hilt and cross-guaranteed each others loans and now can't come up with the cash to meet short-term, loan repayments. The US, also, should demand strict restructuring, corporate financial transparency and non-dumping conditions to those already made by the IMF, prior to an US major commitment to bail out the bankers (so the bankers don't call in their choebel loans).

LG can be a shining example to other choebel and the rest of the world of a successful partnership between a major choebel and a high-profile, but financially weak, US corporation (ie. the reverse situation can work, just as well). Congress should consider targeting financial assistance (or work to open the credit markets) directly or indirectly to choebel of the LG mold.
