Joe and Dominick...
Joe, yes I'm very familiar with ADSL. They are not available in my area, and won't be for some time. The line is also costly, depending upon what speed of service you want. I'm going to go with the ShotGun by Diamond as a "poor man's ISDN" to hold me over until Cable Modems are available in my area, which is much faster than ADSL, around $40/month including the price of the internet connection.
Dominick, Yes I use two computers, but what I've learned today, two computers is not necessary with the multimonitor graphics cards discussed above. Yes, my ISP (AT&T) allows me to log on with as many computers as I want, simultaneouly for $20/month. I have 3 phone lines (2 computer, 1 talk). I've looked into Ethernets but the technology is beyond me, and the routers are expensive.
My motto when doing an upgrade is..."Do things right the first time or pay twice." So when I have my next computer built, I'll be sure to have it capable of running multimonitors. Whether I buy the Appian or wait for Windows 98, I don't know yet. It will have plenty of RAM (maybe have the new ESRAM) and a robust processor.
