I'll make a quick comment or 2 here. It is a little silly to try and compare the two plays-- they are at 2 completely different levels of E&D. Slave Lk. has been under diamond scrutiny now for nearly seven years. A mine is near fruition, another possibly within a couple years (lots of big hurdles yet for ABZ).
My point is that this region of Alberta has only seriously been explored for a year now, and look at the level of progress. Unprecedented. For those with the argument that we don't yet know what we've got-- you're right! That's called speculation. But the blue sky here in AB is no longer present in the NWT, at least not nearly to the same degree. I like both plays, and think both will offer substantial upside, esp. over the next several months' cycle.
Alberta has already been seriously surveyed (AGS) to show diamond potential, and I think that if anyone has read Bulletin#63 they would be excited, much less if they'd reviewed some of the imagery produced of the land (satel., aero, seismic, etc). The uneroded anomalies look incredibly prospective (zif I'm a geologist!). ... Those who wish to shut the door on that kind of opportunity are allowed. --- Ashton has now demonstrated the real opportunity for larger, quality stones (and dare I say, rare fancies), for an econom. mine. But that's just the beginning. This province has been making geologists salivate uncontrollably. It would be silly to turn a blind eye to the incredible potential here! Have a talk w/ Dufresne, Eccles, etc. Visit the MEO camp right about now. Try and get Senn or Downey to keep from talking fast when expressing their opinion!
Pure and simple this is a spec. play, and that's where the upside lies. So many more prime targets to explore. And don't forget, besides the ammicable AB government, the accommocating infrastructure and weather climate, the lower cost to mine (YES, an IMPORTANT consideration, now), these large pipes are NOT UNDER LAKES, ... etc
Again, I can't believe some would dismiss the awesome potential Alberta has demonstrated thus far. There are many companies involved, w/ some surprises on the way.
To each his own, let's just keep this thread for Ashtoners & potential Ashtoners, heh?
Best of luck to all!
