By contrast, Michelangelo, like many other artists of the period, painted women who had men's bodies, perhaps because they were homosexual, or feared repercussions from the Church. However, Michelangelo's sculptures of women were exceptionally sensitive, perhaps divinely inspired. This suggests to me that others did much of his work without his paying too much attention, or he created art in styles to suit whoever was going to pay him.

Leanardo's women, while always captivating, strike me as somehow a bit odd, perhaps suggesting "blended" sexuality? Dunno.
