I agree with you and have not seriously debated religion in about 50 years for just those reasons.

But the whole subject is really much simpler i.e. all religions are simple primitive myths. Not one piece of hard evidence has ever been found for any religion and using logic we can see they are myths and where it comes from.

As people become educated they are realizing it is not real and are leaving it behind..

I have no energy left for that ... I debated religion for years here on SI and elsewhere - there is no reasoning with the credulous. They've decided the truth and that's it. Ask difficult questions like is God bound by relativity and if not, how does He create a universe that would eliminate the paradoxes? Can God make the moon and Sun blow up at the same instant and have us see both explode or does He have to explode the Sun 8 1/2 minutes earlier to make His point? Why isn't any technology or unknown physics revealed in his wisdom that would be anachronistic for the Prophets? Was nuclear war governed by any part of the Ten Commandments? Are Mormons "Christian"? And so on ...
