>> You would think that anyone who cares enough about retaining a Confederate statue to come out and protest peacefully is a racist, hence not "fine people," perhaps not belligerent but still not what would be considered "fine people."

I am almost certain you said you lived in the South at one point.

Essentially everyone I know believes the statue removals are idiotic, that killing your own history lacks gumption, and those things are part of our history. There is no worshipping them as heroes, they are simply historical markers. And most are angry about it, yet not motivated to stop it.

But some few were motivated to come out and make their opinions known, and those on the left condemned it with false cause. Because it was an ENTIRELY REASONABLE thing to do and in no way symbolized or suggested violence or even rowdy behavior. No different from the "kind, peaceful" group on the other side.

From minute one it was pointed out to you that all these people were not in the same group.

Your miscalculation is that anyone protesting the removal of a long-established Civil War monument is a racist and improperly motivated. No. It is just stupid shit that people like Landrieu are willing to do for political gain. No different from what goes in DC on a daily basis.
