I the think Democratic Republic which the Founders provided is better than straight democracy for the reasons I've consistently stated on SI. A straight democracy by popular vote in America effectively disenfranchises most of the United States of America as defined by the Constitution. I do not think the Supreme Court will allow this gimmick to be applied. There is a strong case against it. But I'm interested in what leftists are thinking about it.
