This is false. Trump did condemn David Duke. He didn't do it when asked the question on-the-fly and when you look at the video it is clear he is confused about the question. I would have been, as well -- who the fuck is David Duke? Oh, I met him before? When was that? Do you have any idea how many thousands of people I've met since then? I don't follow the activities of the KKK. Besides, I didn't even hear it clearly through the earpiece.
He did not appear to be lying in the incident (e.g., as Clapper did when asked about secret recordings of Americans). He just appeared to be confused about the question, which is a reasonable thing given the weird character of the question.
Some idiot news reporter is demanding that Trump condemn an individual and a group of people and I'm sure he was thinking, "This is a no win situation, I need to think about it. I don't even know this guy and I'm getting ready to bash him?"
I don't hold Trump accountable for not condemning a person whose name might be easy to remember. It is as if were asked, "Will you condemn Madeline Murray O'hare?" My answer would be, "Well, I need to think about that. Aside from her atheism did she do something else I need to know about? What is my position on atheism? Do I want to get into that topic on this stage today?"
